Oil Painting update 2

I'm leaving the left  side of the canvas to dry for a day or 2.

I have now started working on the right to build up the colours and shadows.

I'm building up the textures by using a combination of paint brush and palette knife technique.

Painting update

Been working on this painting today.

I have mainly focused on the left side of the painting this morning to build up the shadows and light.

New painting started

I've started a new painting today.
I have just got some basic colours and shapes down at the moment. I'll be taking photos, so keep checking back to see how it progresses.

Oil Painting Process Video

For my first post, I have decided to post a video of the process I follow with my paintings.
I have used oil paint on a cotton canvas substrate.
I generally begin by grounding my paintings with a warm colour and plenty of odourless white spirits.
I like to  build  layers with a combination of bristle brushes and palette knives.

This is my new blog for my artwork.
I will be posting my artwork, paintings, sketches, ideas and processes for my artwork.
I will also be looking at including content from artists I find interesting and inspiring.
